Tips for Finding Simplicity in a Busy Life w/ American Express

I feel like life has been non-stop lately. Working a 9-5 on top of creating content for the blog and Instagram has been getting busier and busier for me. It’s often super crazy actually, and I’ve been looking for ways to simplify my life, find peaceful moments, and make the most of my time. I’m often running from meeting to meeting, answering emails, responding to clients and booking travel plans simultaneously. And that’s just my professional life. In addition, I’m also trying to be a good friend, be social, attend events, and be intentional with the people I love (@harperbf). It’s a lot, and I’m sure many of you are even busier.
To me, I think the most important areas to keep simple/stress free are work, your finances and
your home. Here are some recent tips I’ve been trying :)
Finding Simplicity at Work
With all of your job hectic-ness, I think it’s really important to try and find little moments of peace at work. Often the office environment is super stressful, which is why I like to take little self-care breaks and walk to a neighborhood coffee shop for a pick me up.
A little espresso is the perfect escape/reward for those stressful moments. I LOVE coffee, but I also think there is something special about coffee shop environments. They have always been safe places for me. The subtle background noise and the smell of strong coffee always brings back fond memories of comfort and simpler times.
Next time you’re stressed at work, I recommend going for a walk, getting some fresh air, and getting a strong coffee.
Finding Simplicity w/ Your Spending
I’ve also been trying to practice simplicity with my finances and credit situation. Personal finances can be overwhelming, and I’ve used different credit cards in the past, but I’ve long been looking for a Card that’s simpler, with rewards that are easy to understand. That’s why I decided to apply for the American Express’s Cash Magnet™ Card. It’s a new Cash Back Card that fits into my lifestyle and helps me simplify my spending.
This Card is about as simple as it gets. Unlimited 1.5% Cash Back, no caps, no categories, no annual fees. Terms apply, learn more here and here.. Super easy - as it should be. In addition, there is an innovative feature called Pay It Plan It, which gives members more control over how they pay for purchases.
In my opinion, credit card rewards shouldn’t be an added stress on your life. This Card just makes it easy to live your life and earn rewards in the most uncomplicated way. Find out more here!
Finding Simplicity at Home
Lastly, I think one of the most important places to simplify is your home. For me, there is nothing worse than being stressed and coming home to more mess. That’s why we take extra effort to make sure our home is always clean and organized.
Harper and I are both kind of neat freaks, and so everything has a place and we are usually looking tidy. Even the small things matter, like having a bed that is made and a closet that is organized. Every couple of months we’ll go through our closets and try and put together a donation bag. Less is more, and I definitely don’t want to be a hoarder.
I always think that my home is a visible representation of myself. If it’s a mess, then most likely I’m a mess as well. Can you relate? Ideally, I just want to come home, throw myself onto the couch and escape into a good book.
How about you? What are some tips you all use when trying to simplify a stressful schedule?
