Cabin fun in Carnelian Bay
A few weekends ago we traveled up to North Lake Tahoe to celebrate my good friend Steve's birthday. Steve found an awesome cabin to rent in a little area called Carnelian Bay. Tahoe has always been one of my favorite places to visit, and this time was no exception. The weekend was full of kayaking, paddle boarding and lots of lounging in the hot sun. The weather was surprisingly warm and perfect the entire weekend. Originally we had planned to go on a long hike in the mountains, but due to the heat we decided instead to spend the entire day at the lake. At one location we had to climb down a steep mountain to get to a secluded secret cove, away from the many resort vacationers. We of course had ice chests full of beer and mimosas, which made the steep trek extra challenging, yet worth it in the end. It was incredible to be swimming in the crystal blue waters, surrounded by all of the snowcapped mountains. The water was brisk, but the hot sun on the smooth rocks made it enjoyable. We had a hilarious group, and the entire weekend was full of non stop laughing and joking. In the evenings we went back to the cabin to grill some dinner, drink lots of wine and play some fun board games. It was my first time in the Northern part of the lake, and although it took a bit longer to reach, I ultimately enjoyed its more mellow and quieter vibe. The weekend went by way too quickly, and the next thing we knew we had to trek back to the hustle and bustle of the city. Nevertheless, it was incredibly life-giving to be surrounded by friends and laughter in such a beautiful place. Here are some of the photos from the beautiful lake!
