Day Trip to Carmel

Last weekend we decided to leave the bustle of the city and get some fresh coastal air. We drove down the coast for about three hours and landed in the cutest little town called Carmel-by-the- Sea. Carmel is just south of Monterey, and right before you get to Big Sur. It's no surprise that Carmel is a dream destination for tourists exploring the California Coast. The town feels like something straight out of Denmark. There are flowers in bloom on every corner, and the town is filled with art galleries, corner bistros, and cobblestone alleyways that lead to unique boutique shops. We started to get a bit hungry, so we found a Parisian cafe and ordered some Pizza and Rose. We then grabbed some iced coffees and explored the village for awhile, eventually following the main street down to the most picturesque white sandy beach. Growing out of the beach were clusters of Cyprus trees, making it look like something straight out of another planet. We decided it would be nice to come back to the area some day and stay for the entire weekend. We then got back in the car, but instead of heading straight back to SF, we instead decided to follow Highway 1 south for about ten more miles to reach the famous Bixby Creek Bridge. First of all, the drive during that portion of the coast is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. We pulled off multiple times just to take in the beauty of the scenery. The highway winds around the coastal cliffs, taking you over a series of beautifully arched bridges, leading to Big Sur and beyond. We also decided that we needed to drive down on another weekend and go camping in Big Sur. Adding that to the list of weekend adventures. We eventually reached the Bixby Creek Bridge and were blown away by its beauty alongside the California coast. I highly recommend taking the drive if you are in the area. Check out some of the pictures from our day below!

Cyprus Trees are my favorite

Beautiful flowers everywhere!

These trees! Straight out of an alien planet.

It was topped with Bacon, which made it the easy choice.

The cutest little alley way

Next time I'm going to have to drive down the coast with this beauty.

Absolutely stunning!

At first we thought this was the Bixby Creek Bridge, but it was actually a smaller little brother. The Bixby Bridge was a few more miles down the road.

Stunning. It is larger than life when you are there in person. Its amazing how we can build things like this.
